After six months of extensive engineering work, one of Lappa Valley's most important locomotives is preparing to return to service – and she's sporting a striking new look!

Lappa Valley's Fireworks Spectaculars have once again proved a huge hit, with record numbers of visitors enjoying two spectacular, sold-out evenings on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October 2026.

Earlier this summer, we shared a first look at the work being carried out on City of Derby, one of our two large passenger diesel locomotives. Since then, the project has developed into a comprehensive overhaul, with improvements being made from the wheelsets right through to the driver’s cab.
