Frequently Asked Questions
Here's some of the most popular questions asked at our Ticket Office. Please contact us if you have any specific enquiries. We are happy to help.
-
Do I need to book?
At present, we do not take advance booking (with the exception of birthday parties and groups over 10 persons).
Simply arrive 15 minutes before your desired train departure time to purchase tickets and board the train.
-
Can I bring my pushchair?
In short, Yes! – Around 80% of our visitors bring a pram or pushchair to Lappa. We have a specially adapted wagon on the main railway to transport them to the leisure park. Simply lift them on and put the brakes on! (removing the little ones first of course!)
-
Do you run steam or diesel trains?
On the ‘big’ railway that takes you from the car park to the leisure park, we have a fleet of 4 hard working steam locomotives and 2 diesel locomotives, these all share the work load between them. We do not guarantee what type of traction will be on any particular day. Diesel may replace steam with little or no notice.
During the winter months, it is standard for trains to be diesel hauled (with the exception of Christmas).
On the two other railways we have a mixture of petrol / diesel locomotives which all share the workload!
-
Are you wheelchair friendly?
Lappa Valley is accessible by wheelchair / mobility scooter and we are aiming to improve with each day!
For full information, please visit our accessibility and inclusivity page.
