Accessibility and Inclusivity

We've given a lot of families additional support to make sure that everyone can have a wonderful time. We would love you to talk with us about your needs, so we can make your family visit as enjoyable as possible.

Wheelchairs on the trains

We have two wheelchairs available to borrow. If you are bringing your own wheelchair, please note that the maximum size we can fit onto our carriage’s is 130 cm high x 120 cm long (front to back) x 70 cm wide.

The train that takes you to and from the park has specially adapted (ramped) compartments suitable for wheelchairs and staff will assist with access. Please note that the two miniature trains are too small to accommodate wheelchairs.

Getting around

Around half of the attraction, once you arrive by train, is accessible by wheelchairs with hard paved paths connecting the train platform with the Engine Shed Cafe, play areas and toilet block.

Toilet and changing facilities

Accessible facilities are provided at the Ticket Office and main toilet block. The Engine Shed is where you will find our most accessible facilities, Changing Places toilet and changing facility.

Sensory issues and ASD

The team at Lappa Valley have always worked very closely with families who have children with autistic spectrum disorders and sensory issues. We are happy to accommodate many special requests from families in order to make your day out as comfortable as we can. Please contact us by email to discuss what we can do to support you.

Review from customer, "Wheelchair Mummy"

We visited Lappa Valley on May Bank Holiday, with my 5 year old son, myself in a wheelchair, and my assistance dog. Which is never an easy day out for us.

I wanted to take the time to write a review, as we had such a fantastic day out and felt so very welcome.

The fact that you are a wheelchair accessible attraction, is a real credit to you, and essential for our visit.

Real thought has been given to ensure that disabled visitors are included as much as possible, from your wheelchair accessible carriages, wheelchair friendly paths, accessible crazy golf, disabled toilets, and patient and friendly staff. Making me feel very welcome and at ease.

Your staff are a real credit to Lappa valley, it was heartwarming to see individuals with such kind, caring nature, towards all of their guests. It didn’t matter that we were the 100th train ride they’d done that day, the staff still made you feel that your ride, was the most important, and they were just as infused and excited to have you visit them.

No matter how busy the rides got, the staff never rushed, and took all the time that was needed making sure you were safely loaded on and off the vehicles, with respect, and without fault delivering the rides safety message.

Staff went out of their way to talk to me and make sure we were having a good day, and I wasn’t having any difficulties navigating Lappa valley in my wheelchair. Taking the time to make my son feel special as he was proudly dressed as a train conductor.

My assistance dog LOVED all the train rides, and the pedalo, and for me it was really the icing on the cake, to see Lappa valley so welcoming to all dogs. Honestly, my dog had just as much fun as the rest of us. And a big thank you for all the dog water bowls scattered about, on such a hot day, it was appreciated.

A big thank you to the lappa valley team. We can’t wait to visit you again.

Wheelchair mummy.
