Wheelchairs on the trains
We have two wheelchairs available to borrow. If you are bringing your own wheelchair, please note that the maximum size we can fit into the steam train carriage is 130 cm high x 120 cm long (front to back) x 70 cm wide.
The steam train has specially adapted (ramped) compartments suitable for wheelchairs and staff will assist with access. Please note that the two miniature trains are too small to accommodate wheelchairs.
Around half of the attraction, once you arrive by train, is accessible by wheelchairs with hard paved paths connecting the train platform with the café and main toilet block.
Toilet and changing facilities
Disabled facilities are provided at the Ticket Office and main toilet block. Our new building, The Engine Shed, will have a Changing Places toilet and changing facility. It is currently under construction and will open later in 2020.
Sensory issues and ASD
The team at Lappa Valley have always worked very closely with families who have children with autistic spectrum disorders and sensory issues. We are happy to accommodate many special requests from families in order to make your day out as comfortable as we can. Please contact us by phone or email to have a chat about what we can do to support you.
Please view our Lappa Valley Steam Railway Access Inclusivity Guide for full details of accessibility.
If you are planning a visit during 2020 and would like to chat through how we can support you and your family, please call us on 01872 510317 or email the ticket office on firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
