First visit to Lappa Valley? Here’s a short guide to help!
Visiting Lappa Valley for the first time? Jowan Roberts has put together a useful guide which gives you a little flavour of what you can expect at Conwall’s Secret World of Play and Trains.
Once you’ve arrived you will head towards the Ticket Office where you will be greeted by a kind member of the team who will tell you a bit about your day to come. If you miss your booked train, then do not worry because trains departfrom Benny Halt every 40 minutes on green days and additional trains run if needed.
Getting on the train is quick and easy. If you need any assistance, please feel free to ask a member of staff on the platform they will be happy to help. There are buggy wagons on each train set, and disabled compartments so our trains are as accessible as possible.

The journey through the valley will take you around ten minutes. You will be in a small carriage which is pulled by one of Lappa’s much loved engines. In the middle of the journey, you will reach Metha Bridge, the mid-point of your journey where you might pass another engine going back to Benny Halt to pick up more passengers.

Coming around the final bend of your journey you will see the park emerge into view with the activities you will soon be able to enjoy. On arrival into East Wheal Rose please make sure to take all your belongings when getting off the train.
Once you have left the train you will be able to explore the park. Maybe you’ll want to have a paddle on the swans or enjoy a drink in The Engine Shed with its multi-level soft play. There are other trains to enjoy, including the Lakeside Railway where you can shout at the shark as you pass by!

We’ve also got acres of outdoor adventure play areas, Adventure and Frisbee Golf and much more – and don’t forget that all our main activities and unlimited train rides are included in your admission too.
If you need to have a break, we have loads of places to relax including beautiful secluded spots around the park such as our popular Picnic & Paddle, complete with Cornish stream – perfect for cooling off. Just hop on the Newlyn Downs Branch Line.
We also offer a hearty range of delicious food and drink to help fuel your fun. From homemade meals, to quick bites such as pasties, sausage rolls and sandwiches we have something for everyone. Plus, The Crib Hut offers tasty local ice cream. In fact, it’s so local the cows can hear our trains!
We strongly recommend booking and please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before your train departs. Don’t worry if the rain falls, there’s still plenty to do and the Lappa Valley ethos is to just get the waterproofs on!

Please remember the train journey is part of the experience, and we highly recommend pre-booking your visit – especially during the summer months.
From big trains to small trains and many areas of fun to enjoy we can’t wait to welcome you on board soon at Cornwall’s Secret World of Play and Trains.
