St Newlyn East Band perform on a train for St Piran’s Day

Lappa Valley joined forces with St Newlyn East Brass Band to create a special video in celebration of St Piran’s Day, honouring one of Cornwall’s Patron Saints and the county’s rich heritage and traditions.

Around 20 members of the band boarded a train, hauled by the railway’s flagship engine Zebedee, They then took a ride through the Cornish Countryside whilst playing a rousing rendition of “The Song of the Western Men”, commonly known as “Trelawney’s Army”.

The train weaved its way through the historic workings of the former East Wheal Rose Mine which is home to Lappa Valley’s family leisure park. The video was released on the attraction’s social media platforms.

“I believe this is the first time we’ve had a brass band performing on one of our trains. It’s an incredible sight, and when we filmed the video a couple of weeks ago families enjoying their day out were quite bemused by the goings on!”
