How to get here

Follow the brown signs from the A3075 via the Cubert crossroad for main road access. 

We are also signposted from the A30 and A3058. Please note this takes you via narrow Cornish lanes.


By Bus
The 85 bus runs between Truro and Newquay and stops in St Newlyn East.   

By Coach

Access for coaches is via the A3075; follow the brown signs from the Cubert crossroads.

By Bicycle

We are located just a few minutes off the St Piran Way (National Cycle Route).

Opening Times

We will be open daily from 17 -23 February 2020, and then on the following Winter Weekends:

29 February - 1 March, 7 - 8 March, 14 - 15 March and 21 - 22 March 2020

We will be open daily from 28 March 2020

Departures: 10.40am, 11.20am, 12pm, 12.40pm, 1.20pm, 2pm, 2.40pm and 3.20pm.

The Ticket Office will open at 10am and will close as the last visitor leaves the park, usually around 4pm. 

TICKET OFFICE: Please allow at least 15 minutes before your preferred train departure to park your car and  purchase your tickets.


Admission to Lappa Valley costs £7.50 per person during February half term and our Winter Weekends, for all adults and children aged 3-15 years old.

We provide a buggy wagon for prams and pushchairs on the Steam Railway.

Disabled access

We have two wheelchairs available to borrow. If you are bringing your own wheelchair, please note that the maximum size we can fit into the steam train carriage is:-

130 cm high x 120 cm long (front to back) x 70 cm wide

The steam train has specially adapted (ramped) compartments suitable for wheelchairs and staff will assist with access. Around half of the leisure park is accessible by wheelchairs with hard paved paths connecting the leisure park steam platform with the café and main toilet block. Disabled facilities are provided at the Ticket Office and main toilet block. Please note that the two miniature trains are too small to accommodate wheelchairs.

Birthday parties from April to October cost £14 per child and include:

A minimum £30 deposit is required at the time of booking.
A minimum number of 10 children required per booking.
A maximum of 20 children can be seated in the party carriage. Larger numbers can be accommodated using the decking area.


What does the admission price include?
All advertised attractions, including the return steam train journey, canoeing lake, crazy golf, pedal cars, play areas, indoor play carriages and our other two miniature railways. The coin-operated cars are charged at an optional, additional £1.

When are you open?
Selected winter weekends until we fully reopen Saturday 28 March 2020

How often and when do the trains run?
During Winter Weekends, the steam train runs every 40 minutes starting at 10.40am. The journey time is 10 minutes. Additional trains run at peak periods. The two miniature railways run on separate complimentary timetables which are more frequent in busy periods.

Can I bring my dog(s) with me?
Yes, well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. We charge £1 per dog and they are welcome on the Steam Railway, canoe boats, Newlyn Downs Branch Line and numerous nature walks. Assistance dogs are welcomed free of charge.

Do you apply any age restrictions?
Our pedal cars are for under 5’s only and the coin operated cars are recommended for ages 5 to 12 years.

Can I ride on all the trains as often as I would like?
Yes, we just ask that you are considerate to other visitors.

Are the mine buildings accessible?
Both the mine engine house and the chimney have no internal access.

Can I bring a picnic?
Yes, we have many outdoor picnic areas. Our Whistle Stop Café at the park has an excellent snack and children's menu including Lappa Lunch Bags.
