Charity Day Success

Lappa Valley Steam Railway raised £1,500 for Cornwall Air Ambulance

Lappa Valley would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the visitors and supporters that helped us raise £1,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance on Sunday 24 September.

Stephanie Preston-Evans, Fundraising Officer from Cornwall Air Ambulance said, “We’re very grateful to Lappa Valley for hosting a charity day in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance, which raised a fantastic sum of money; helping the charity continue its life-saving work. It is a great year to be selected as Lappa Valley’s chosen charity as this year also marks 30 years since the first air ambulance mission in Cornwall. During the last 30 years the Cornwall Air Ambulance has carried out more than 26,000 missions, but not a single one could have been flown without the generosity of the people of Cornwall. Thank you.”

Cornwall's Air Ambulances distinctive helicopter remains one of the busiest in the UK yet they do not receive any central government funding for running costs and are reliant upon the support of local and regional supporters, businesses and individuals alike, to help them reach their target of £3.5m. Each flight costs the service £1,500.

With this figure in mind, Lappa Valley is generously donating an additional £500, to take the total donation to £1,500.
